The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) [PDF] expands, extends and enhances outreach efforts to beneficiaries on Medicare Part D and for those with limited income. The State Health Insurance Program (SHIP), the Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) and the Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRC) are coordinating efforts to provide outreach to Texas beneficiaries with limited incomes statewide, and for general Part D outreach and assistance to beneficiaries in rural areas.

All licensed nursing facilities in Texas are required to submit MDS assessments for all residents admitted into their facility. The current version is MDS 3.0.

As part of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) migration of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) submission and reporting functionality to their Internet Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (iQIES), CMS will turn off the current Assessment Submission and Processing (ASAP) system’s ability to accept any MDS transmissions on April 13, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET.
