A special care facility is an establishment that provides a continuum of nursing or medical care or services primarily to persons with acquired immune deficiency syndrome or other terminal illnesses. A special care facility may also include special residential care facilities.

The Minimum Data Set (MDS) is a standardized collection of demographic and clinical information that describes a person's overall condition. All licensed nursing facilities in Texas are required to submit MDS assessments for all residents admitted into their facility. The current version is MDS 3.0.

Home Delivered Meals provides nutritious noontime meals delivered to people in their homes on a scheduled basis. Meals may also be delivered to a location other than an individual's home, provided the location is within the provider's service area and is approved by the case worker. Those eligible for HDM are aged 18 years or older. An interest list is maintained for people interested in applying for this program. This page contains information for HDM providers.
