HHSC to Host Grand Opening Ceremony at Rusk State Hospital

AUSTIN – The Texas Health and Human Services Commission is hosting a ribbon-cutting event June 7 to celebrate the grand opening of the new 200-bed patient complex and administrative building at Rusk State Hospital.

The Texas Legislature and the Governor approved approximately $200 million in funding for the state hospital’s construction, enhancing the state-of-the-art care HHSC team members provide while eliminating the challenges older buildings pose for modern health care.

Operating since 1919, Rusk State Hospital offers inpatient adult psychiatric services to people in 36 counties throughout East Texas.

WHAT: Rusk State Hospital grand opening ceremony including remarks by state and city officials. Media tours will be available immediately following the ribbon cutting.
