Mental Health and Substance Abuse Public Reporting System

Summary

The Mental Health and Substance Abuse Public Reporting System collects and displays performance and outcome measures for Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) – funded mental health and substance use services. The data is intended to be available for public viewing and to elicit public input into the desired mental health and substance use data elements. The mental health and substance use service data is posted for public viewing every six months during the fiscal year. The data reported here is intended to fulfill the requirements of the public reporting system outlined in Health and Safety Code §1001.084, including data elements added by Senate Bill 26, 88th Legislature, Regular Session, 2023, until a comprehensive data collection system is developed.

Community Mental Health

HHSC contracts with 37 local mental health authorities (LMHAs) and two local behavioral health authorities (LBHAs) to provide mental health services to adults with serious mental illness and children with severe emotional disturbance. This report provides a snapshot of how each LMHA and LBHA is meeting the measures that provide an environment for client recovery, including supportive housing and employment. This information is included on both a comprehensive spreadsheet and individual sheets (tabs) that compare how each center is doing on these measures. Adult and child/adolescent data are included.

Substance Use Disorder

HHSC contracts with more than 250 providers across the state to provide prevention, intervention, and treatment services. These services are provided in a wide array of settings, from school–based prevention services to outpatient and inpatient treatment services. For each type of service, providers are required to provide evidence of their ability to provide clients with the most effective way leading to recovery.
