HHSC has received federal approval of a waiver that allows the state to expand Medicaid managed care while preserving hospital funding, provides incentive payments for health care improvements and directs more funding to hospitals that serve large numbers of uninsured patients.

The Texas Administrative Code (TAC) is a compilation of all state agency rules in Texas. There are 17 titles in the TAC; each title represents a category and related agencies are assigned to the appropriate title.

The Surrogate Decision-making Program (SDMP) is a legislatively mandated process which authorizes actively involved family members and committees comprised of trained volunteers to provide written informed consent for individuals residing in community-based ICF/IID who have no legal guardian and who lack the ability to make certain treatment decisions for themselves.

HHS agencies and divisions must protect client confidential information and respond appropriately to suspected or actual breaches.  

If you received Medicaid long-term services and supports, the state of Texas has the right to ask for money back from your estate after you die. In some cases, the state may not ask for anything back, and the state will never ask for more money back than it paid for your services. The program is administered by HHS.

The NVRA of 1993 requires HHS to ensure that individuals applying for or receiving aging/disability services are offered the opportunity to register to vote.
