The Non-Physician Mental Health Professionals serves as a mental health and substance use resource for school districts located in the region served by a regional Education Service Center (ESC) and in which the LMHA or LBHA provides services.
MHFA is an evidence-based curriculum used to teach individuals how to help someone who may be developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.
Texas Education Code, Subchapter E, Section 8.152 directs Local Mental Health Authorities/Local Behavioral Health Authorities to employ an NPMHP to serve as a mental health and substance use resource for school districts located in the region served by a regional Education Service Center and in which the LMHA/LBHA provides services and requiring HHSC to submit an annual report on the outcomes for school districts and students resulting from the services provided by the non-physician mental health professionals.
Annual report to provide an update to the Legislature on the implementation of the system redesign for individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability, as required by Texas Government Code, Chapter 534.
