HHSC Publishes IL 2022-Requirements for Providers Seeking to Deliver New Individualized Skills and Socialization Services

HHSC publishes IL 2022-53, announcing the implementation of a new service: individualized skills and socialization. This new service will replace day habilitation in the Home and Community-based Services (HCS), Texas Home Living (TxHmL) and Deaf Blind with Multiple Disabilities (DBMD) programs.

HHSC will phase out the current day habilitation service in early 2023 and replace it with the new Individualized Skills and Socialization service. Day habilitation will no longer be a Medicaid-billable service in HCS, TxHmL and DBMD programs for dates of services beginning March 1, 2023.

Providers interested in offering Individualized Skills and Socialization services to individuals enrolled in HCS, TxHmL or DBMD must obtain an Individualized Skills and Socialization license. More information about Individualized Skills and Socialization, including a prelicensure training, can be found at Individualized Skills and Socialization | Texas Health and Human Services.
