Gov. Greg Abbott today announced Texas HHSC is providing $128 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act funding to rural hospitals and nursing facilities to support health care providers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Texas HHS is urging long-term care providers to prepare for natural disasters ahead of an active hurricane season forecasted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Texas has decreased its use of antipsychotic drugs in nursing facilities by 58 percent, according to a report from the National Partnership to Improve Dementia Care in Nursing Homes.
