Along with highly competitive benefits, HHSC offers rewarding careers with a strong sense of mission: to protect the health and safety of people receiving long-term care in settings such as nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
We’re actively recruiting statewide for surveyors and provider investigators. Please watch the videos below to learn more about these positions. You’ll see staff in the field describe their work and explain why they love what they do.
Surveyors can be nurses, social workers, dieticians, pharmacists or generalists. Positions are available for licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) and registered nurses (RNs) who have at least one to two years of experience in a clinical setting. Starting annual salaries for RNs are $85,000.
Surveyors work on-site in mobile regional teams to conduct inspections to ensure long-term care providers are complying with state and federal health and safety regulations.
Provider investigators also work in the field, but focus on investigating allegations of abuse, neglect or exploitation of people receiving long-term care in Texas.
The following videos show long-term care surveyors and provider investigators at work.
