Texas Works Path to Success Pilot Program

Texas Works Path to Success (TWPS) launched in 2020 as an innovative partnership pilot program to offer job training for qualifying Houston-area high school seniors and young adults to increase their career opportunities after successful program completion. The goal of the program is to reduce the impact of situational and generational poverty by increasing participants’ economic self-reliance, housing stability and educational advancement.

Expanding Reach

HHSC is continuing its partnerships with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service, Houston Independent School District, and Texans Can Academies, and is seeking to expand the TWPS program through prospective partnerships with Houston Alumni and Youth (HAY) Center and Covenant House Texas. This expansion will target former foster youth and homeless youth in the Houston area.

TWPS Career Pathways

  • HHS Texas Works Advisor I: Connects Texans in need of financial, food and medical assistance to benefits programs such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Medicaid.
