Crisis units are facilities designed to treat a person’s symptoms of mental illness in the community.

These programs help people with mental illness who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless find and keep housing.

Outreach, screening, assessment and referral (OSAR) programs are available to all individuals interested in information about substance use services. OSAR programs can be the starting point for individuals who want help accessing substance use services but are unsure where to begin.

The Rural Border Intervention (RBI) program provides community and home-based substance use prevention and intervention services in remote rural border areas.

Recovery support services is an evidence-based practice funded through SAMHSA that supports services to increase long-term recovery and recovery quality.

Pregnant and Parenting Intervention (PPI) programs provide intervention services to reduce the impact, severity and cost associated with a substance-exposed pregnancy for the mother and child and their families.

A recovery residence refers to a supportive, shared living environment founded on peer support and connection to community services that promote a person's active participation in their own recovery.

Residential treatment services for substance use disorders are provided in licensed facilities where people stay for a short period of time. Treatment includes counseling, case management, education, and recovery skills training.

Medication-assisted treatment is the use of prescribed medications, in combination with counseling, to treat opioid use disorder. Services include counseling, case management and referrals to help with lifestyle changes.

Withdrawal Management Services (formerly known as "detoxification" or "detox" services) are medical services that help people safely stop  substance use. Withdrawal management often includes the use of medication to treat withdrawal symptoms.
