Training

The HHS Office of Acquired Brain Injury provides training to anyone interested in learning more about what they can do to help prevent brain injuries and how to work with people who have them. The trainings include topics such as brain injury basics, the effects of brain injury, prevention tips, intervention methods, resource facilitation, and more.

OABI is developing a series of free trainings that will be accessible online at any time. Training information will be posted here when it is available.

In-person trainings are available. To schedule a training, contact OABI by email.

First Responder Training

House Bill 1338, 84th Texas Legislature, 2015, requires the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement to collaborate with the OABI to develop training for first responders on brain injury. TCOLE and OABI work jointly to keep training material current and relevant to best assist first responders when helping a person with a brain injury. To learn more, visit the TCOLE training webpage.
