The 2021 annual Children with Special Health Care Needs Client Demographics Report provides a demographic description of both the population served by the Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) program and of the individuals on the program’s waiting list.

This report implements the requirements of House Bill 548, 86th legislative session, 2019, to generate and monitor data on the language acquisition of children, ages eight years old and younger, who are deaf and hard of hearing and deafblind, and to report on the results of those language assessments on the Texas Education Agency, Health and Human Services Commission and Texas School for the Deaf websites. This report implements requirements to identify valid and reliable tools and assessments to evaluate the language acquisition of children eight years of age or younger who are deaf or hard of hearing, and to annually gather and report on the results of those assessments on the Texas Education Agency, HHSC and Texas School for the Deaf websites no later than December 1, 2020, and then on August 31 of each year thereafter.
