 The Health and Human Services Commission established a Work Group on Mental Health Access for First Responders (Work Group) to develop and make recommendations for improving access to mental health care services for first responders.

The HHS system is committed to reducing maternal mortality and morbidity in Texas, and is working to address many of the findings from the 2018 Joint Biennial Report by DSHS and the Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Task Force through efforts already in place and by exploring new and innovative ideas within HHS programs.

This report provides an overview of the collaborative efforts of HHSC and the stakeholder community in support of bridging the gap to pediatric specialty care through the use of telemedicine in rural Texas. It includes information on the establishment of a stakeholder workgroup, a pilot telemedicine project and the educational, technical and planning considerations involved with achieving positive outcomes and effecting meaningful knowledge transfer.

HHSC's New Developments in Safeguarding Protected Health Information report including a summary of privacy related complaints filed by the public.

The report examines uncompensated care charges and costs from hospitals, uncompensated care costs by type of hospital, the funding available to offset uncompensated care costs, uncompensated care costs after funding, and the health care reform impact.

Rider 74 requires HHSC to implement a mental health peer support re-entry program. The rider further requires HHSC to submit a report on the program that includes the total population to be served and participant outcomes to the Office of the Governor and the Legislative Budget Board by December 1, 2018.

This report studies the feasibility of establishing a community attendant registry using existing resources, to help Medicaid recipients enrolled in the community attendant services program to locate providers.

As required by THSC 533.0515(e), this report provides a summary of the activities of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and the Joint Committee on Access and Forensic Services (JCAFS) advisory committee to update a bed day allocation methodology and utilization review protocol.

H.B. 13 and Health and the 2018-2019 General Appropriations Act, Senate Bill 1, 85th Legislature, Regular Session, 2017 (Article II, Human Services Commission [HHSC] Rider 83) directs HHSC to establish the Community Mental Health Grant program and submit an annual legislative report on the program’s success. The purpose of the Community Mental Health Grant program is to ensure individuals with mental health issues can access services and treatment.

S.B. 1693 instructs the Aging Texas Well Advisory Committee to assess and make recommendations on the appropriate level of independent living services needed for older Texans with visual impairment.
