This report provides preliminary findings from the 2019 utilization review of the Managed Care STAR+PLUS review.

This annual report builds on the previous annual report, submitted in January 2019, which provided outcomes related to transitioning children and young adults enrolled in the Medically Dependent Children Program (MDCP) into the STAR Kids capitated managed care program.

The Legislature directed HHSC to design and implement an acute care and long tern services and supports system for individuals with an intellectual and developmental disability (IDD). The 2019 annual report on the implementation of the IDD system redesign was coordinated between HHSC and the IDD System Redesign Advisory Committee.

The Office of the State Long-term Care Ombudsman (Office) is independent within HHSC. Long-term care ombudsmen regularly visit assisted living facilities (ALFs) and advocate for residents. This report describes ombudsman services in ALFs in state fiscal year 2018, including recommendations to ensure the highest quality of life and care for residents.

This report examines the frequency of pregnancy-related depression among women with a Medicaid-paid delivery, the frequency of pregnancy-related depression screening by Medicaid and Women's Health providers, the utilization of services and onset of treatment for pregnancy-related depression, and Medicaid costs during fiscal year 2016.
