The Critical Incident Management System is a reporting tool for providers to report critical incidents that replaces previous reporting systems. Critical incidents include abuse, neglect, or exploitation (ANE) allegations and non-ANE allegations like incidents involving law enforcement, emergency room visits or medication errors.

Texas Health and Human Services agencies may only provide funds to contractors/providers who show good faith efforts to comply with all child abuse reporting guidelines and requirements.

When a person who receives health care benefits is booked into a Texas county jail for more than 30 days, the jail staff can report the confined person’s name to Texas Health and Human Services. Once the confinement is reported to HHS, that person’s benefits are suspended or terminated until they are released.
