A peer is a person with lived experience of recovery from mental illness or addiction. By combining this experience with skills learned in formal training, peer specialists deliver services in behavioral health settings to support long-term recovery.

Peer support is when someone with lived experience gives encouragement and assistance to help someone with mental illness or a substance use disorder achieve long-term recovery.

Texas Health and Human Services contracts with licensed agencies to provide personal assistance services to people who have physical disabilities who are mentally and emotionally competent and willing to supervise their attendant or have someone who can supervise the attendant for them. The individual interviews, selects, trains, supervises and releases their personal assistants. Health-related tasks are prescribed by physician.

Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) is a computer-based system that verifies the occurrence of authorized personal attendant service visits by electronically documenting the precise time a service delivery visit begins and ends. Texas requires EVV for certain Medicaid funded home and community-based services provided through HHSC and MCOs.

Home Delivered Meals provides nutritious noontime meals delivered to people in their homes on a scheduled basis. Meals may also be delivered to a location other than an individual's home, provided the location is within the provider's service area and is approved by the case worker. Those eligible for HDM are aged 18 years or older. An interest list is maintained for people interested in applying for this program. This page contains information for HDM providers.

HHAeXchange is hosting an Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) Town Hall Webinar on Thursday, April 25, from 1–3 p.m. Central time for program providers and financial management services agencies (FMSAs) who use HHAeXchange as their EVV system.

Dental treatment claims submitted to TMHP with dates of service after May 1, 2022, will be included as part of the provider fiscal compliance review process for Home and Community-based Services (HCS) and Texas Home Living (TxHmL) program providers.

Medicaid and CHIP Services will be hosting monthly sessions for Program Providers and Financial Management Services Agencies, who use the Long-term Care Online Portal for the Home and Community-based Services and Texas Home Living waiver programs.
