Information for Texas Adult Foster Care (AFC) providers

The Minimum Data Set (MDS) is a standardized collection of demographic and clinical information that describes a person's overall condition. All licensed nursing facilities in Texas are required to submit MDS assessments for all residents admitted into their facility. The current version is MDS 3.0.

HHSC is hosting Electronic Visit Verification policy training webinars for program providers, financial management services agencies and Consumer Directed Services employers to complete the EVV policy training requirement.

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is accepting comments from stakeholders on the following draft rules.

As part of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) migration of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) submission and reporting functionality to their Internet Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (iQIES), CMS will turn off the current Assessment Submission and Processing (ASAP) system’s ability to accept any MDS transmissions on April 13, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET.
