Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor promotes breastfeeding as the optimal method of infant feeding among WIC participants both individually and in a group setting. A Breastfeeding Peer Counselor provides breastfeeding education, follow-up and basic clerical support relating to breastfeeding to promote WIC program operations. A Breastfeeding Peer Counselor may be expected to work outside of the WIC Clinic environment, including making home or hospital visits to WIC clients, and may be assigned to work after regular clinic hours, including answering the Breastfeeding Afterhours Helpline during non-traditional work hours. A Breastfeeding Peer Counselor may assist the WIC Lactation Consultant and other WIC staff as assigned by Site Supervisor or Breastfeeding Promotion Coordinator.

Job Description:

Performs routine (journey-level) customer service work.   • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
  • Minimum two years' work experience in administrative support and/or customer service is preferred.

Job Description:

A Breastfeeding Coordinator is assigned to function as the local agency’s contact for all high-risk breastfeeding concerns in addition to being responsible for breast pump accuracy count for all LA29. This position is a part of the local agency QA team in accordance with state and local policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs duties of the Breastfeeding Coordinator and Peer Counselor Coordinator for all sites of LA 29.
  2. Evaluates and consults with WIC clients experiencing problem with breastfeeding by phone, live conference, email, or in person. 
  3. Assists with new Peer Counselor training and monthly in-service meetings.
  4. Prepares and conducts breastfeeding education classes for WIC staff and community partners.
  5. Researches, prepares, edits, and presents materials by means of written and verbal communications.
  6. Attends training seminars, conferences, and meetings as assigned by WIC Director and/or State WIC program to maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in job related skills.
  7. Conduct comprehensive maternal, infant feeding assessment related to lactation including ascertaining the participant’s breastfeeding goals using appropriate counseling skills and techniques.
  8. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  9. Provide annual breastfeeding training for all LA29 staff according to the WIC state policy.
  10. Responsible for submitting annual breastfeeding plan to LA Director/or Program Coordinator.
  11. Evaluates all high-risk lactation concern through hands on or telecommunication service and provides detailed documentation and follow ups in client records.  
  12. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein as may be assigned or delegated.

Education, Licensure, Certification Qualifications - Required:

Registered as International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. License must be kept current to retain employment.

Job Description:

Active member of the Access Health WIC management team whose primary job duties include quality management, training, policy implementation, community involvement and clinic operations oversight for 12 WIC clinics in LA 29.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible to participate in the active leadership of the design, planning, policy making, and clinic operations for WIC LA 29. Maintain expertise on current WIC policy and procedures, monitor policy changes and WIC memos and guide implementation in all clinic sites. Maintain the WIC Job Helps and distribute updates as needed.
  2. Responsible to perform the duties of Quality Assurance Coordinator for all WIC sites. This includes ongoing evaluation of individual counseling, nutrition education classes, clinical procedures, clinical self-audits, and fiscal self-audits. Reviews corrective action plans proposed by site supervisors and follow up to insure completion. Participate in the Access Health QI committee.
  3. Perform the duties of the Training Coordinator for LA 29, including overseeing new employee training and all required training schedules. Duties include maintaining training records, preparing and delivering training based on identified needs from audit review, satisfaction surveys and training mandated by the State Agency. Work with Breastfeeding Coordinator to ensure all breastfeeding training requirements are met for all staff.
  4. Perform duties of the WIC Certification Specialist (WCS) Preceptor for all the WCSs, including initial training and on-going training.
  5. Perform duties of Outreach Coordinator for LA 29 including ensuring the completion of annual mandatory outreach. Coordinate activities and public relations to increase caseload in all service areas.
  6. Coordinate the activities of dietetic interns and volunteers who perform services in the WIC sites.
  7. Perform duties of vendor liaison, including completing store evaluations in timely manner.
  8. Perform high risk counseling in WIC clinics in absence of staff RD or as assigned.
  9. Serve as a resource for clinic site supervisors to evaluate clinic operations and customer service. Plan and execute the annual required Customer Satisfaction Survey.
  10. Work with Nutrition Education Coordinator and Obesity Project Coordinator to assist with the development and implementation of the Nutrition Education Plan for LA 29, including monitoring for adherence by all sites.
  11. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein as may be assigned or delegated.

Job Description:
Registered Dietitian/Licensed Dietitian. Ability and desire to work with staff throughout the entire Local Agency 114 county area. Counsels high risk clients (as determined by State Agency (SA) and Local Agency (LA) parameters. Implements procedures to ensure high risk clients receive education/counseling as needed in all LA sites. Ability and desire to work with a multi-cultural population. Excellent communication and organizational skills required. Must be able to travel and be prepared for several overnight stays within LA 114 counties. Make extended trips of up to four hours in a car each way.
