Job Description:

Has credentials of an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or has other certification in lactation management (e.g. CLE, CLC) or State-approved training in lactation management. The Registered Dietitian position is responsible for assessment of WIC participant’s nutritional status, recommending nutritional changes or improvements to advance the participants growth and development. The Registered Dietician conducts, monitors and evaluates WIC Associate performance and compliance with WIC Policy and Procedures through a QA/PI program that evaluates documentation requirements, performance requirements and assessment of knowledge of job functions. The Registered Dietitian assesses the nutritional status of pregnant women with diabetes and or other high risk categories, such as morbid obesity, teen pregnancy, etc. The Registered Dietitian also provides consultation for WIC participants with special dietary needs, may conduct breastfeeding education, and assesses WIC Associates’ training needs through observation, record audit and as needed to identify training needs of Associates.

Job Description: Supervises the overall productivity of the clinic and staff. Provides nutrition information and services to promote and maintain proper nutritional practices, health protection and care.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Manages the daily clinic activities. Involves maintaining adequate caseload, efficient patient flow, proper customer service, ordering supplies, and ensuring a positive physical clinic environment.
  • Supervises staff by interviewing job applicants, determines initial and ongoing training needs, evaluates work productivity, approves leave time and time cards. Functions as adjunct faculty for supervision of dietetic internship students.
  • Oversees creation of monthly clinic reports. Reviews reports to keep updated on clinic productivity.
  • Certifies and counsels potentially eligible applicants for program eligibility based on assessment of anthropometric, biochemical, clinical and dietary information, following federal and state regulations, policies and procedures. Evaluates and approves non-contract formula requests.
  • Counsels program participants on individual high-risk nutritional need conditions. Determines if and when follow up is needed.
