Medicaid and Medicaid Waiver Programs

Abuse Neglect and Exploitation Competency Training and Exam

This training is designed to meet the basic ANE training requirements for staff providing direct care in a community setting. By the end of the training, staff should be able to identify which acts constitute ANE, how to recognize ANE, understand risk factors for ANE, and what methods can be used to address ANE. Additionally, this training includes an introduction to trauma and its impact on the people we serve.

Service providers must complete a test with a score of 80 percent or higher. A training certificate can be printed at the end of this training and kept in staff personnel files to meet training requirements.

Deaf-Blind with Multiple Disabilities Waiver

DBMD Waiver (Oct. 14, 2021)
This course provides DBMD providers with information on developing and completing a successful service planning packet. This training includes information regarding:

  • Submitting enrollment, renewal, and revision individual plan of care packets
  • Completing IPC forms, transfers, intellectual disability/related condition assessment forms, and individual program plans
  • The most common mistakes made with each of these.

Service providers must complete a test with a score of 80 percent or higher and print a certificate of completion.

Community First Choice

Community First Choice in the HCS and TxHmL Programs (Jan. 29, 2016)
This training discusses the implementation of Community First Choice as it applies to individuals receiving services through the HCS and TxHmL waiver programs. Topics in this training include:

  • CFC services
  • Provider qualifications
  • Eligible living environments
  • Individual plan of care renewal
  • Other important CFC service coordination topics such as transportation, financial management services and monitoring.

This training is mandatory for all HCS and TxHmL service coordinators and includes a quiz with a minimum required score.

Behavioral Support Services

HCS and TxHmL Behavioral Support Services Provider Policy Training (March 3, 2015)

This course informs service providers of behavioral support services in the HCS and TxHmL programs related to the provision of behavioral support services in those programs.

Behavioral support service providers currently providing services to individuals must complete this WBT prior to June 1, 2015. All new behavior support service providers must complete the WBT before providing services to an individual. All providers must complete the course every three years.

To document successful course completion, participants must print a copy of the certificate provided at the end of the training and submit a copy to a program provider with whom they are employed or contracted.

Ensuring continuity of services requires collaboration of all person-centered planning team members chosen by the person to help them make choices and coordinate Medicaid program services and that support them to achieve their desired life. Person-centered planning team members include the person and their LAR, managed care organization, the case management entity, program provider representatives and others chosen by the person.
