HHSC Adopts Rule Changes to 26 TAC Chapter 550 Licensing Standards for Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Centers

Effective Oct. 16, 2024, HHSC adopted amendments to Title 26 of the Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 550 concerning Licensing Standards for Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Centers in response to House Bills 1009 and 3550 from the 88th Legislature, Regular Session (2023).

• House Bill 1009 requires a prescribed pediatric extended care center to suspend the employment of an employee who HHSC finds has engaged in reportable conduct and who has been reported to the Employee Misconduct Registry while the employee exhausts any appeals process, including informal and formal appeals and any hearing or judicial review. Regulations regarding these requirements are in 26 TAC, Section 550.418.
• House Bill 3550 establishes minimum standards for transportation services coordinated by the prescribed pediatric extended care center. Regulations regarding these requirements are in 26 TAC, Sections 550.1101 and 550.1102.
• Additional changes throughout the chapter update citations and references and restructure some of the regulatory language.
