The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has issued Quality Safety & Oversight Memo QSO-21-19-NH (PDF).
The memo announces the addition of COVID-19 vaccination to immunization related requirements. This includes:
- New requirements for educating residents or resident representatives and staff on the benefits and potential side effects with the COVID-19 vaccine.
- Offering the vaccine.
Nursing facilities must also report COVID-19 vaccine and therapeutics treatment information to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network.
