The HHS Executive Commissioner Cecile Erwin Young today named Dr. Jennifer Shuford commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, effective immediately.

Dr. Ryan Van Ramshorst, chief medical director for Medicaid and CHIP Services at Texas HHS, has been selected to participate in Medicaid leadership program.

Texas HHS Executive Commissioner Cecile Erwin Young named Dr. Jennifer Shuford interim commissioner of DSHS, effective Oct. 1, replacing Dr. John Hellerstedt who is retiring from state service.

Jordan Dixon has been named the HHSC’s Chief Policy and Regulatory Officer. She will oversee five divisions of the agency.

Two HHSC Medicaid and CHIP Services Division team members have been selected to represent Texas as part of the National Association of Medicaid Directors Medicaid Forward initiative.
