AUSTIN – The Texas Health and Human Services Commission is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, April 9, to celebrate the grand opening of a new 300-bed replacement hospital for San Antonio State Hospital.
The Texas Legislature and Governor Greg Abbott approved approximately $357 million in funding to construct the new hospital, enhancing the state-of-the-art care HHSC staff provide while eliminating the challenges older buildings pose for modern health care.
Operating since 1892, San Antonio State Hospital offers inpatient adult psychiatric services to people in over 50 counties throughout South Texas.
