Register for Creative Arts Contest Virtual Reception

Registration is now open for the 2023 Texas Mental Health Creative Arts Contest Virtual Reception scheduled for May 23 from 4:30–5:30 p.m.

The contest is hosted by the Texas System of Care, Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health at the University of Texas at Austin, and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

Winners from the 671 submissions across all age groups for original artwork, writing and photography will be announced prior to the reception and posted on the Texas System of Care Gallery webpage.

“The creative arts contest is one of my favorite initiatives,” said Courtney Harvey, Office of Mental Health Coordination statewide coordinator and associate commissioner. “The creative arts contest is proof that even the youngest of people are thinking about, trying to understand and trying to cope with physical and environmental conditions that impact their emotions and behavior. We can tailor conversations and interventions to meet the wellness and mental health needs of people at all developmental levels. Prevention, early intervention and recovery are possible.”

The reception will feature:

  • Remarks from HHSC executive leadership.
  • Digital slideshow of the winners’ artwork.
  • Poetry reading.
  • Live question-and-answer panel with the artists.

To register for the reception, visit the GoToWebinar webpage.
