Registration for the 2022 Texas Mental Health Awareness Creative Arts Contest Virtual Reception on May 18 from 4–5:30 p.m. is now open.
The contest is held by the Texas System of Care, Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health at the University of Texas at Austin, and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
Winners across all age groups for original artwork, writing and photography will be announced prior to the reception and posted on the Texas System of Care Gallery webpage.
“The creative arts contest shines a light on such an important and often misunderstood topic,” said Courtney Harvey, Office of Mental Health Coordination statewide coordinator and associate commissioner. “It allows Texans to share a part of themselves through their artwork, which can bring healing and hope for all involved. HHSC is excited to once again celebrate this great artwork and help connect the community while creating awareness around the impact of mental health.”
The reception will feature:
- Remarks from HHSC leadership.
- A digital slideshow of the winners’ artwork.
- Panel of artists discussing their artwork and the inspiration behind their submissions.
- Question-and-answer session.
