AUSTIN – The Rio Grande State Center is hosting free COVID-19 vaccination clinics weekly beginning Thursday, June 10.
“We are opening a COVID-19 vaccination clinic to help our community get more access to the life-saving vaccine,” the said Sonia Hernandez-Keeble, Rio Grande State Center superintendent. “We hope those who have not received a vaccination will choose to do so to protect themselves, their family, friends, and the general public.”
The mental health care facility will offer the Moderna vaccine to adults each Thursday afternoon for the month of June. The vaccine comes in two doses, taken four weeks apart. The Department of State Health Services will allocate 30 doses to the Rio Grande State Center each week. Appointments are required to receive the vaccination.
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, face masks and social distancing will be required at the event, and staff will adhere to CDC safety guidelines.
