The Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force was reestablished in 2019 by House Bill 1225 (also known as the Glenda Dawson Act), 86th Legislature, Regular Session. The Task Force is composed of 24 members, 20 appointed by the Governor, two members of the senate appointed by the lieutenant governor, and two members of the house of representatives appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.

The purpose of the Council is to advise Health and Human Services Commission and the legislature on research, diagnosis, treatment and education related to pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome.

HHSC has launched two initiatives to hold quarterly calls with managed care organizations and providers respectively in Texas. These meetings are a follow-up of the one-on-one individual Quality Improvement meetings the Office of Value-Based Initiatives previously held regularly with each MCO.

The Health and Human Services Commission Executive Council is established by Government Code, Section 531.0051, to receive public input and advise the HHSC Executive Commissioner regarding the operation of the commission.
