Chief of Staff, Kate Hendrix

Kate Hendrix is the chief of staff for Texas Health and Human Services Commission Executive Commissioner Cecile Erwin Young. She supports and advises the Executive Commissioner and oversees the day-to-day operations of the commissioner’s office. She works closely with the executive team on planning, cross-system issues and special projects.

Hendrix comes to HHS from the Texas Hospital Association, where she worked on hospital finance and related policy. She was previously budget and policy advisor for Gov. Greg Abbott, handling issues related to health and human services programs and several regulatory boards. Before joining the Governor’s office, she was a senior policy advisor for HHSC and a budget and policy analyst for the Texas Senate Committee on Health and Human Services.

Hendrix has a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.
