Trey Wood is the chief financial officer for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and is responsible for the overall financial management of the agency. Wood has served as CFO since August 2017 and assumed leadership of the Financial Services division after an agency reorganization in March 2020.
Wood has more than 14 years of state government experience, working almost exclusively in the areas of accounting, audit and budget. Prior to joining the state, he worked in the private sector conducting health care-related audits for the states of Texas, Oklahoma and Virginia; the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; and other federal government entities.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from The University of Texas at Austin and is a certified public accountant, certified internal auditor and certified information systems auditor.
